My GT4T has suddenly stopped working. Whenever I try to use it I now get the message: {“responseData”: null, “responseDetails”: “Suspected Terms of Service Abuse. Please see http://code.google.com/apis/errors“, “responseStatus”: 403} If I go to the page in questions it says “You received this notice because Google has blocked or throttled this website’s access to the Google API.” Does this mean GT4T no longer works?
GT4T still works. Google is undergoing changes to their policy and APIs and a new paid version of their API is coming out. GT4T still uses the old API. I will update GT4T in a couple of days.
For the moment, please double click the clover icon, and in the setup screen, check the box before “skip Google API”. Let me know if it works. I will work out a patch if it is not.
Hi Dallas. Thanks for your quick replies and help. GT4T seems to be working again now, which is excellent, but I haven’t been able to find the “use server relay on timeout” option in the setup screen to uncheck it. Do I need to download a new version to have access to it? I’m using version 4.17.

I just bought a license for GT4T and it has thus far done me no good. It works in any application except the one I want to use it in – Trados Studio 2009. Every time I try to translate a segment or phrase, the connection times out. I would appreciate some quick help!
GT4T works great for me so far. But there is one annoying thing is that when I translate a segment in SDL Trados Studio 2011, a space is inserted at the end of the segment. This is really unnecessary and I have to take an extra step to delete this extra space every time.
I’d like to point at another (but related) issue; not caused by GT4T – but by Google Translate (it turns up no mattter how you use Google Translate): Working with text with tags Google Translate creates an extra space between some tags. I know Dallas is a Member of the Google Translation Team, so maybe it’s possible to give some inputs to GOOGLE to get rid of this time-consuming issue.

Thank you Tor. Google is a monster and it is almost impossible to do that. On their feedback sites, you can still see bug reports from many years ago and the bugs are still not addressed to.
It will be more realistic that we work together to solve the issue:-) Please provide me with sample source texts (the more the better) and I will try to find out the patterns.

Two weeks ago I bought a second GT4T Word macro version licence for my wife. I since read here that the bugs with the extra spaces added will only be fixed in the full Suite version of your program and the version I bought has now become a ‘legacy’ product. Is this really true?

I have installed the Trial version of 4.25 but after the “Working…press Esc to abort” message I get “Connection timed out.Switching to GT local server”, then “Connection timed-out.Check your Internet connection or Diagnose.” When I use “Diagnose” everything works successfully and I’m given 48ms times for all the connections. But it still doesn’t work. I tried unchecking the “Server Time-out” box in Setup but then it just goes on forever.
I really hope this can be fixed and I will be happy to pay for the licensing fee! Thanks.

By the way, I am working in SDL Trados Studio 2009, I forgot to mention that, and this is a disaster for me being suddenly deprived of Google Translate! The dictionary function works fine, though.

1. Download and install again even when you are using 4.25 (as I sometimes make changes without changing the version number).
2. Go to GT4T setup screen, in “Other Options” increase “Set key delay “to over 40 ms.
3. Type some source text in notepad or any applications except Trados 2009, and then select the text and press GT4T Google Translate hotkey to check out if it works.
4. If it works in other applications except Trados 2009, go back to Trados 2009, press alt+insert to copy source text to a translation slot. Select some text and then press CTRL+C first and then ctrl+J.
That did the trick. I uninstalled GT4T, reinstalled it, changed the “Set key delay” to 42 ms, and it worked fine in Word 2007, but still didn’t work in Trados 2009. I got the same messages about timing out and not being able to connect to the server.
So instead I “copy source to target” segment by segment, select the text, press the GT Translate hotkey and it works instantly. Can’t thank you enough for your quick response, you’re a life-saver!
Wow, these commands work like a charm. I especially love the option of seeing the Bing results displayed along with Google Translate and being able to pick the best one. I’m a believer, and true to my word, I have ponied up the annual license fee.

I have been testing GT4T but I have a problem that makes me doubt If I should buy it, because I don’t know if it works. When working on TagEditor I press ctrl+alt+j or ctrl+alt+k to translate the segment and I receive a message “Working… Press ESC to Abort”. How do I solve this, please?

Hi I just started to work with GT4T and got a message now to either try try for one month or buy it. I accidentally clicked on “do not show this message again” when I wanted to confirm to try it out for a month. I bought a one-month license on Nov 24th. At the beginning all went smoothly. Now I am trying to use GT4T and I keep receiving the following error message: Your GT4TSuite has expired. Click OK to exit GT4T Suite. Thank you for using. Am I doing sthg wrong? Thanks in advance for your help.

The word add-on probably won’t work under Word 2010.
Please note that the Word add-on version is no longer supported. Please use the GT4T Suite. It works everywhere you can type including Word 2010.

There are other ways to extract Google Translate results besides the OFFICIAL API.
GT4T will stay and the end users will not be affected.
There are also many other machine translation services like Bing and SysTran.
I do hope Google won’t deprecate the API and I am willing to pay for it.

I realized what might be the problem. To translate a segment, you need to use ctrl+alt+j not ctrl+j.
You can also use ctrl+alt+k to translate next segment.
ctrl+j still works in trados 2009, but you need to use alt+insert to copy the source text to the target and then select some text first.
